The Greater Petite Area Community Association (GPACA) is a non-profit organization formed to support education and community development in the Greater Petite Area.
Our current work is focused on efforts to support the South Shore Regional School Board (SSRSB) in keeping a school in the Greater Petite Area.
One of our activities is to raise funds for engaging professionals to study and provide information. This will include a bussing model as well as possible mediation services.
We have secured a legal opinion to share with the SSRSB. We have since shared this positive opinion with the school board in hopes that they will use this new information to find a positive path forward for all concerned.
We want to work together to honour the intentions of the 2013 board, the interests of the students and community members in the Greater Petite Area (including both Petite & Pentz catchment areas) and to provide a positive solution with the best educational value.
As outlined above, and demonstrated by our actions, we are not working against SSRSB – quite the contrary – we are hoping to assist them in finding a way out of a difficult situation which impacts so many.
